65year old man arrested for stealing chicken

Two men — Adegoke Atanda and Adegbola Obey — on Monday appeared before an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court charged with stealing six domestic fowls.

Atanda , 65 , and Obey, 50 , whose addresses were not provided, are facing two charge of conspiracy and stealing.

At the arraignment of the accused , Police Prosecutor Jafaru Musulimu told the court that the duo committed the offences on Feb. 10 at 10 pm at Olu Alabi Farm in Oke -Oniti area of Osogbo , the Osun capital .

Insp . Musilimu said the accused conspired and carted away six chickens belonging to Olu Alabi Farm Ltd at Oke-Oniti , Osogbo .

The offences contravened Sections 390(9 ) and 516 of the Criminal Code , Laws of Osun , 2003 .

Both pleaded not guilty and their lawyer, Mr Najite Okobie , urged the court to grant them bail on liberal terms .

Ruling on the bail application of the accused , Magistrate Fatima Sodamade admitted them to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety each in the like sum.

She said the sureties must reside within the court ’ s jurisdiction and show evidence of tax payments .

The case was adjourned until March 1 for hearing .
